Leek Soup

I know what a leek is!!!! With Michaela's help I located a leek in the grocery store and we made potato and leek soup! It was yummy and everyone ate it. : ) I even made my own blue cheese salad dressing from real blue cheese! My husband is so impressed! : )

If it wasn't for Denmark I wouldn't have been forced to cook. BUT - It would be much better to learn to cook somewhere where the items I need are available and written in English. Most of what I buy is based on pictures... and trust that it's hard to tell the difference between baking soda, baking powder, and cornstarch. : )

Feeding Pigeons

See how much fun the pigeons were! The old man selling the food was super nice. I doubt Scotty would have done it if I had tried to make him do it. We fed these super clean birds breakfast on two days since it was so fun! : )

Yes, we got pooped on... but look how much fun we had!!!!

Spain Pictures

We're home!!! I know I've put alot of pictures, but it's just as easy to post five pictures as it is to post seventy-six pictures so.... (I took WAY more!)

Well, Barcelona was interesting, not quite what I expected - It reminded me more of Mexico with Euros instead of Pesos. :) We had a wonderful time though and it was good to get away from the house for a while and have some warm sun to play in.

We went hiking in the mountains of the Monserrat which is a Monestary high, high in the mountains. We took a train an hour outside of Barcelona and then a cable car and a funicular to the top where we found trails... so we went hiking for a few hours. It was perfect weather too!

We went to Park Guell, which is a super big park like area in Barcelona. This involved hiking too - we made it all the way to the top where we could look out over the entire city.

I was very proud that we didn't rent a car - we took the subway, trains, and buses! And didn't get lost at all!

I'd love to go back and just play on the beach in the warm weather. I think I'll go look for flights after this. :) Flights within Europe can be very cheap! We paid almost $400 for all five of our round trip tickets... We only paid the taxes, the ticket cost 25 cents. Going to Spain for the weekend isn't an outrageous plan!

I saved the best part for last. We fed PIGEONS. It was hillarious, the kids LOVED it. Even Scotty had pigeons landing on him. Sierra had four on her at once, and Michaela had one on her head for a while. I'll post those pictures in a minute. I probably took more pigeons pictures than necessary, but I don't care. It was great!

I'm bored

I'm bored so I changed this little blog to green. Maybe it will print better now for those who have tried to print it. I also changed my comment settings so if you couldn't leave comments you can now... maybe.

I was bored yesterday too, and that's when I got the 16th highest score in Denmark on the game tetris. : )

Happy Fastelavn!

Happy Fastelavn!

Fastelavn was yesterday and it is a holiday similar Halloween - kids dress up in costumes and hit wooden barrels filled with candy, like a pinata. Then they eat Fastelavnbollers which are cream filled donuts (without the sugar, therefore without the taste). They looked fun though! We ate our "not-really-donuts" and filled our barrel with toys, candy, and money like good little Danes and let the kids attack it with an umbrella. Scotty even took some good swings at it, but got bored until he realized there was good stuff inside.

It snowed really hard for about an hour today too so the kids had something to play in. **AND we made new friends** Some boys from across the street came over and said "We would like to play." It was an english phrase taught to them by their parents, but it was cute and did the trick. Even though the girls had just came inside and were all soggy, they went back out to play with their new friends. YAY. The boys spoke a little English, but kicking a soccer ball and throwing snowballs really doesn't need much discussion so they all played until it got dark.

They have five kids in their family so they obviously aren't Danish. : ) They are from Africa and here for two more years like us. Their mom, who I met later, speaks very good English so she is my new friend. :) She has a little girl who is two so I'm happy Scotty has a friend too. Scotty even went outside near the snow, but was careful not to step in it... not even his toy trucks could lure him into the scary white stuff.

Oh, and the picture of Scotty laying sideways on his bed... He is sleeping! It was nap time, but we heard him playing with his toys and just let him be since he was playing nicely. After a while when we checked on him we found him like that - asleep. :)

...and all the kids in the other picture- They are some of the kids from Paul's co-workers families. We had them all over for dinner one night.

Blowing Bubbles

There is the little one Blowing Bubbles.

...okay, actually I thought it looked like he was smoking, but Paul decided he was blowing bubbles and we thought that was a little more appropriate. :)

He has the correct number of arms, legs, toes, and all other little parts. The due date is August 2nd and with any luck we may just have a July birthday instead of another August birthday! Next month we go back for another ultrasound and that's when we can find out if it's a girl or boy... if we want. :) I'm pretty sure we want.

It did make me feel better to see a high-tech Danish machine with all the buttons and lights like the ones at home. Maybe this won't be so bad.
