If Scotty was German....

If Scotty was German he would start kindergarten at Goosacker Schule. :)

I got a letter in the mail saying Scotty would have a spot at the Goosacker School next August. Nice. Goosacker... Maybe that name sounds cooler to a German person. :)

Anyways, This letter gave me a date and time to show up with Scotty. No problem, I'll just have the secretary from our International School call Goosacker and tell them Scotty was already enrolled in school. Our nice secretary called... Goosacker said I still had to bring Scotty in.

I asked our secretary what would happen if I didn't comply. She said the police might become involved... OK.

I asked what the police would do. She said they might take Scott to school for me... OK.

Scotty might think that was really fun! What an experience! :) I just wasn't sure if the police would return him to me so I figured I better take him to see the Goosacker people.

So I took Scotty out of school, to take him to visit the school he's not going to. In the snow, in the middle of Andrea's nap time... super.

I thought that maybe they would just want to see that Scotty was alive and well and then we could just go home. I even had an official letter from the International School and Soctty's school records. We went in, I showed my letter. They didn't care. :) They asked if Scotty would be attending Goosacker. I said no.

Scotty still had to go off with the other German kids to "meet his new classmates". :) I had to have an hour parent interview and fill out all the forms...

It's all part of the process... :)

The process gets better...

The next week I had to go back to pick up their "report" on Scotty. Turns out I now have to take Scotty to a doctor because he doesn't speak or understand any German. Hmmp.

Well, if a five year old German kid doesn't speak or understand German then okay... send him to the doctor, but my little boy speaks English, not German... oh, but he can call me a dumb cow in German, "Du bist eine dumme kuh." Maybe I should have mentioned that...

Instead I mentioned... "When we got to this silly country I tried to put him in a German school, but everyone told me NO... so don't come to me nine months later and try to make me feel like a loser because we aren't fluent in German. Ich spreche ein sehr bisschen Deutsch!!!" ...but I was nicer, because they were actually being kinda nice about the whole thing. ...but not really. :)

We'll see how that doctor appointment goes... or maybe I'll take my chance with the German police.

Pretty snow though huh?

Scotty says...

Scotty said, "Loving someone one means not sending them to their rooms".

He said this out of nowhere, he had not been sent to his room, he wasn't in trouble. He was just sitting on the couch and obviously thinking some pretty deep thoughts about what love really is. :)

He just wanted to let me know that if I love him I wouldn't send him to his room... which happens far less than it probably should. :)

Scotty's Class!

Looks so sweet and innocent huh?

I love that the bikes are included in the photograph. Every bornehaven here has a fleet of bikes, scooters, and moon cars. It's Scott's favorite thing to do.

SCOTTY IS FOUR!!!

Although Scotty turned four today he was refusing to accept it. He says, "I like three."

SO. Our defiant son spent the entire day being "three" until, luckily, a chocolaty birthday cake with a number FOUR on it came along... just in case a certain little three year old wanted to be FOUR. It was presented to him along with FOUR presents that only a FOUR year old could open. He decided to be four, but I'm pretty sure he'll wake up to once again be "three" tomorrow...

Our birthday plans changed a bit. We had plans to go to Legoland, but my recent lack of sleep with last night being the topper with only four non-consecutive hours, and the current state of our chaos our house is in, we decided to take Scotty to Tivoli to play golf. He liked this idea better than Legoland anyways. Even the girls were happy to stay home.... seems we all need a break.

So we just played at home most of the day and then Paul took the kids to play golf while I stayed home and rested. :) (Yes, I know terrible mother skipping out on my only son's birthday golf event... oh well.) :) They came back to get me and we all went out to a restaurant for dinner. After our dinner, which went really well considering we walked in with Scotty just about asleep and Andrea being woken up from a ten minute nap, we returned to our semi-clean house.

Then cake. :)

Hence his golf cake. This cake took REALLY long (I refer you to my four hours of sleep) and involved re-doing a lot of things. It started off going to be a pool table because he loves pool tables... but things got complicated and frosting was scraped off and reapplied, scissors and USA frosting was brought out... It was a MESS. It doesn't make me very happy, but Scotty liked it so I'm a winner! Of course Scott liking presented it's own problems... we weren't allowed to eat any part with frosting or decorations on it. :)

AND- If you think it looks like something else keep your comments to yourself. :) It is a miniature golf course with a red golf ball and a hole. Nothing involving Christmas Time or Violence...

But I'm not done with birthday planning yet.... Sierra's is tomorrow along with her High School Musical party. I opted out of the big event party and we are just watching a movie, eating pizza and salad, popcorn, cake and ice cream... and that is it! Sounds simple enough. We'll see... She didn't really know who to invite since she has been at school for just a few days. I'd hate to leave someone out and this always results with inviting ALL THE GIRLS. :) ...and I have a problem, when I invite people they ALL end up coming. :) I think I'll have about 14 girls here. Better than 14 nine year old boys! (which will come eventually, I know...)

So I just finished her cake and I'm considering myself lucky because it's only 11:30pm. Yesterday I was finishing Scotty's cake at 1:30am.

You Tube

My three year old loves YouTube!

How terrible is this? :) I just now figured out how it all started too... Remember a long time ago when I wrote about the blue ball machine thingy and someone posted a link to a YouTube video about a Rube Goldberg thingy involving a ball. Are they all called Rube Goldbergs? You know, the things where a ball goes down a slide, hits something, it hits something else, which does something else, and that does something else... etc... Either way, he loved that video and watched it for days, then he wanted MORE!

Next he found Domino movies from FlippyCat. There is a cat involved and sometimes the cat hits over the first domino. :) Scotty watched these forever. Then he found ABC songs/music videos. (He loves to sing the ABC song.) THEN he found marble runs, hotwheels car tracks, and mario cartoons. He hasn't ever found any inappropriate movies until he started watching the mario ones. The mario cartoons will sometimes lead him to movies that people make up involving mario, luigi, sonic the hedgehog... all his favorite people. :) Some of the mario cartoons lead to "not nice ones" so now he knows he can't watch those. (After you watch a video it has a list of similar ones on the side to choose from so you get "led" through videos. This is how he "finds" new categories.)

So this is his favorite new thing to do on the computer, he just navigates through it all himself. He's a smart little three-year old. :)

I have a few videos on YouTube too. You have to search for rabbitbearbug and it will pull them up... They are just the ones I have posted on here I think. Scotty is completely uninterested these ones.

Buggy

I decided to leave Scotty at bornehaven an extra half hour since it's getting warmer. He seems to be enjoying the outside playtime more now that he's learned how to make the bikes and scooters work ...and how to throw sand on the roof and screech with happiness as it slides down and falls over his head.

His teacher says he gets along with all the girls much better than the boys. :) Yesterday when I went to pick him up he was trotting around the little path holding two girls hands. When I drop him off there is always three little girls that run up to him and give him a hug. Today a little girl ran up to him, yelled "Scotty!!", gave him a hug, yelled something in Danish which Scotty repeated... and then they both ran off. Scotty paused only for a half of a second to turn and throw me a kiss... leaving me there to feel sad that my little boy is perfectly happy without me. :(

I've also started a new thing with his teachers. I brought in a book to write notes to his teachers. This way I can talk to them without hunting down a translator. :) I translate my English into Danish with the help of the computer and to read what they write I type it all in and translate it into English. Pretty time consuming just to find out Scotty needs to practice using scissors, but it's worth it. :)

I'm glad he likes his bornehaven. :)

P.S. Buggy is one of Scotty's nicknames: Scotty Bug. Scotty Monster. Brown Eyes.

P.P.S. I hope he doesn't wet the bed tonight. :) We are going for a record... so far - two dry nights in a row.

AND - Pizza Hut doesn't have the most exciting pizza, but it is familar. We ordered some odd pizzas from the little pizza places which are everywhere here. Ick. Who puts hot dogs on a pizza? Although tonight for dinner we made our own pizzas and we put spaghetti on one. :)

Haircuts, Field Trips, and...

Lots to catch up on = Longest post ever

Haircuts by Mommy
Add "barber" to my long list of job titles. I will not pay $25 to get each of my kids hair cut so I cut all their hair myself ...and sometimes they just look funny for a while. :) Michaela says her hair is too short, I just trimmed the sides and back of Scotty to see how it looked, and Sierra has long bangs that you can't really see because she wears a headband 24 hours a day. Now I can afford to go get my haircut. :)

I told Michaela if she stuck her tongue out I'd put it on here...

Bornehaven Field Trip

Scotty had some of his friends from bornehaven come over. :) At his little preschool the kids go on field trips quite often so Scotty goes somewhere at least every other week, usually with one teacher and two other kids. Sometimes they take a bus somewhere into town, but sometimes they just go to one of the kids houses to play. :) I think this is so cute!

Last week it was Scotty's turn to have his friends come over. I dropped him off at bornehaven and then later that day he rode the bus home with his teacher and they brought two of his friends. Scotty showed everyone his room and all his toys and his video games. (His teacher said we had more toys than the school. ) He thought it was so funny to bring his friends and teacher over. :) We all ate lunch together and then his friends went home on the bus and Scotty stayed with me. I think this is a totally cute idea for preschools.

Scotty and Andrea

Provided that Scotty is in a good mood he now likes Andrea. He holds her hand in the bath when she cries, he picks up toys that she drops, and he even shared his covers with her. He will put the pacifier in her mouth if she cries and will stick his tounge out and "spit" to make her laugh. He even carried her once (with help from mommy)!

However, he has his boundaries. She is NOT allowed to touch his cup of juice...even when it is empty. He does also get mad when she takes one of his toys... but he gives it to her first. He's silly. Scotty says "She looked at my car and I gave it to her." ...as he crying because she has the toy that he gave her. We are learning to trade toys with her.

Yummy Food

Andrea has been eating lots of food lately. Sweet Potatoes, Green Beans, Avacados, Peaches, Plums. She likes eating most everything. At dinner we give her a teething cookie and she enjoys that while I get to eat... then I have to clean her up: her hands, face, hair, arms, belly... I need a bigger bib. :)

Last night I even gave her her first bottle! She chewed on it for the most part, but some of the milk must have fallen in her mouth because it was soon gone. I've decided that since I've been breastfeeding for seven months I'm a superstar, espically by American standards. :) I still will, but she will probably end up getting a bottle at night sometime to help her tummy get more full.

Andrea has also kicked Sierra out of her room. This week I am going to put Andrea in Sierra's roon and Sierra downstairs in Michaela's room on the fold out bed. I'm hoping to get some sleep in the near future. I am beginning to get a little grouchy. I haven't slept all night in about a year now... probably closer to four years though. I can't believe I've been raising kids for 10 years!!

Trip Home

We are still trying to figure out and book the flights to have specific dates. Paul has been gone for the last two weeks (and leaves again next week to Spain)... so we haven't sat down with more than 20 quiet minutes to think. Hopefully we'll have dates tonight!! June, July or August....

1, 2 Ear Infections

My poor poor Scotty.

He has two ear infections.

AND GUESS WHAT? Denmark is out of penicillin. This screams THIRD WORLD! No, can't go to another pharamcy. No, can't go to the hospital. No, can't go to Copenhagen...

Who runs out of penicillin? They have been out for a while too because we had friends that couldn't get anything for their son a couple months ago... Put Flemming and Henerick on a bus and send them somewhere to get some. Make a phone call... Fill out an order form... DO SOMETHING.

So I spent two hours going up and down the three levels
between the doctor and the pharmacy. It finally ended with the doctor's office closed and me in the pharmacy getting angry, talking sternly, and refusing to leave the counter until they gave me medicine for my son who was whimpering in the corner.

The lady finally went into the back and ten minutes later came back with a bottle of something which she said would work. I think she just wanted me to leave. Fine. I had medicine, I was semi-happy. The bottle had a long word on it which had the word "penicillin" in it... Why did I have to turn into crazy mom to get this? I could go down the path that I didn't get it because I wasn't Danish... Two hours... same lady... she had it in the back all along...

I went home and researched what exactly I had before I fed it to Scotty. Seems it's been approved in Estonia so we're all good. :)

The pharamacist actually said, "Don't worry the pressure will burst and then he'll feel better." SERIOUSLY?? I hope her eardrums burst!

I'm just a little ray of sunshine over here, aren't I? :)

BUT. I am happy I do have the medicine. For a while I didn't think that I would get it at all... that was a unique and stressful feeling. Scotty would be in pain. Lots of kids don't get the medicne they need. We are actually lucky. ...even with all my complaining.

Scotty Talks

Scotty talks all day... he even likes to hum along to songs.

He says:
No, More, Stop, Help, Whoo Hoo, Yay, Me, Go, Down, Slow, Fast, Meow, Ice, Maa, Daddy, Whee, Oww, Off

I'm sure there are more and perhaps if I was a good mommy I'd write them down or something. :)

He'll imitate just about anything and some things he ends up repeating later... He counts along with the TV and sings along with the ABC song. My favorite is LMNOP which sounds like "lalalaPPPP"

It's cute, but now not so much when he screams STOP at me over and over again. Quite the little independent boy...

That's all for now, I figured I should type something. :) I'll put pictures on soon - I still haven't figured out how to print them out here. There isn't a Costco.com around. BUT if anyone gets a package of pictures from Walmart.com... they're from me!
