More goodies

The girl's grandma (their dads mom) in California sent us a package... thank you!!! Some pancake syrup! :) ...and advent calenders!

I think the advent thing is big here in Denmark. They have all kinds of things to "count-down" until Christmas Eve. Last year we got a candle with numbers down the side that we had to burn every day. Of course we got it on the 10th of the month and it took us a week of constant candle burning to catch up. :) I just learned yesterday that they have a Christmas cartoon on every night on some channel and the kids watch it and open their advent treat for the day. Anyone know what channel it's on?

Anyways... the package was a big hit with the kids. The bubble wrap was a good half hour of fun and the box is now a car for Scotty! :) Maybe people should just send us empty boxes of bubble wrap and circus peanuts. :)

Hope the video works...

I can't get the video to "embed" so you'll have to cut and paste the link for now.

DR1 has two different half hour "julekalender" (Chirstmas calender) each day from December 1st to December 24th. From 17:30 to 18:00 they have one for kids called Julefandango featuring clips from previous years Christmas calenders.
They also have a half hour family Chirsmast calender later in the night from 19:30 - 20:00 each day. This year it's "Nissernes Ø".

TV2 also has two different Chrismats calenders each day from December 1st to 24th.
They show "Mikkel og Guldkortet" for kids each day from 20:00 - 20:35 with a re-run of each episode the following day from 17:10 - 17:40. Mikkel og Guldkortet website here: http://jul.tv2.dk
Besides this TV2 will also show another old family Christmas calender again called "The Julekalender".
By most Danes #The Juelkalender" is is said to be the funniest julekalender ever shown. The language in The Julekalender is a funny mix of Danish and English some of the time, some very funny direct traslations/mis transltions from Danish to English - and even a bit of German at some point.
The Julekalender is shown each day from 23:05 - 23:20 with a re-run of each episode the following day from 17:40 - 18:00.

The Julekalender was first shown on Danish TV2 in 1991.
It was so popular that first Norway in 1994 and then Finland in 1997 made their own versions based on the original Danish version.

I guess the pancake syrup survived the trip.
